The City of Mount Dora Electric Utility Department has contracted with Osmose Utilities Services to begin the inspection of all the wooden utility poles through the service area.
The inspections are set to begin on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Each Osmose employee can be identified with an official City of Mount Dora badge.
Osmose Services will be looking to determine the current strength of the poles and evaluating if the poles are decaying. Some of the methods used to evaluate the poles are by visual inspection, sound and bore and excavation of 18 to 24 inches. After the pole is inspected and cleared an aluminum tag will be placed on the pole. The city will be informed when Osmose completes their inspections and advise of the poles that need to be replaced.
The City of Mount Dora wants to take preventative measures to insure our poles are reliable to prevent power outages. This also allows us to prevent decaying poles from snapping or falling during storms. If you have any questions please call Mount Dora Electric Utilities at 352-735-7155 Ext. 4.
