5th Annual Mount Dora Scottish Highland Festival

The City of Mount Dora is proud to announce the 5th Annual Mount Dora Scottish Highland Festival this weekend , November 17th-18th

The festival was established to celebrate the city’s existing Scottish Culture within Mount Dora and it is one of the most popular festivals of the year. The weekend events will be filled with music, athletics, heritage societies, Scottish and Irish dancing, a Scottish Reenactment Camp, vendors, the returning Scottish Highland Golf Classic, and so much more.

The 5th Annual Mount Dora Scottish Highland Festival will begin with the Mount Dora Scottish Highland Golf Classic on Friday, November 17th at the Mount Dora Country Club. The City of Mount Dora invites participants to get involved in the golf tournament as well as the other activities during the weekend. The tournament will be in best ball format with prizes - providing 18 holes with a golf cart and lunch. This was a popular event amongst businesses, associations and golf fanatics last year. Anyone can register online at www.MountDoraScot.com or call (352) 735-7183. Individual prices are $75 and foursomes are $300.

The kick off continues Friday night at Evans Park for the Night of the Tartan. This night acts as a Scottish ceilidh, which is a night of dancing, music, and Scottish heritage celebration. There will be music from the Tartan Terrors, North American’s Premiere Celtic Band, and the city will be introducing the newly established City of Mount Dora Pipes and Drums. Everyone is invited to join in the free Scottish celebration from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The remaining festivities will be held at Gilbert Park on November 18th beginning at 10:00 a.m.  There will be a clan parade, athletic games, dancing, sheep herding and border collies, bagpipes, and traditional Scottish food and merchandise. This family-friendly event will be filled with music, food and fun. The city invites everyone to participate in the celebration of culture. This event is also free and open to the public.
