The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for the investigation of criminal activity in the city of Mount Dora, Florida. The mission of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is to provide the highest quality criminal investigative support to all cases documented by the patrol division. CID detectives are steadfast in their resolve and will mobilize all available resources to accomplish their tasks.
CID conducts a broad spectrum of criminal investigations to include deaths, sexual assault, robbery, burglaries, fraud, criminal mischief and other crimes that affect our community. . Detectives are responsible for locating and interviewing victims and witnesses; preserving physical evidence; recovering stolen property; identifying, locating, interviewing and arresting criminal suspects; and presenting criminal cases to the State Attorney for prosecution
The Criminal Investigations Division is ready to respond anytime, day or night, to the needs of crime victims, or to the scene of any criminal activity. Investigative personnel receive specialized education and training in Death Investigations, Sex Crimes, Interview and Interrogation Techniques, Crime Scene Processing, Financial Fraud Investigation, and many other investigative disciplines
Overseen by Sergeant Hector Figueroa, the Criminal Investigations Unit is staffed by Detective Angie Smith, Detective Pat Thomas and Code Enforcement Officer Gary Hutcheson.
Last year, the Division handled over 700 cases throughout the City of Mount Dora, including property crimes, robberies, identity theft, and sex crimes. The detectives also track sex offenders currently residing in the City and work closely with other agencies in Central Florida to ensure these individuals do not re-offend. The Division is actively involved in the Alzheimer’s program, which provides methods of keeping citizens with this terrible disease safe and accounted for.
